OUR HISTORY

Park Meadows was founded in 1986.  Our pastor, Joe Langley, had a vision to start a church that was geared to reaching people not attracted to the more traditional churches.  We initially met at the Waxahachie YMCA and moved to our present location in 1989.  Our current auditorium was added in 2001 and allows us to not only seat 400+, but it also provides space for a variety of special events including our dinner theaters which are presented in the fall and spring.

We are affiliated with the Baptist General Convention of Texas and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.  Because it no longer represented and promoted what we believe to be the loving and grace-filled methodology God intends, we ended our association with the Southern Baptist Convention in 1993.

From our beginning, our goal has been to engage people who were not already attending church, had dropped out of church, or were looking for a place that was casual and non-judgmental.  This has led us to increasingly become a congregation that strongly emphasizes the full picture of grace and the unconditional love of God.

Our belief is that attending church should be enjoyable, encouraging, relevant, and non-guilt inducing.  We want everyone to arrive with anticipation and leave with a sense of God’s love and presence.

Until recently we retained the label of “Baptist” in our name, but we are definitely not your typical Baptist church.  Coats and ties are virtually non-existent and we haven’t used a hymnal in years.  We are not for everybody, but we have connected with many people who truly enjoy their church experience at Park Meadows.
